I Received a Postcard That Says My Appraisal for the 2025 Tax Year Remained the Same, What Does This Mean?
Background
In 2024, the Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) Board of Directors modified and adopted a reappraisal plan that froze residential values for the 2025 tax year. This excludes any accounts with new construction or new improvement value. Property owners can use TAD’s online dashboard to review their appraisal details and understand how this policy affects their property value. Please note that you still have the right to file a protest by May 15th, and for your added convenience you may file electronically using the dashboard, by mail, or in person.
"We know property taxes are a burden for all Texans - we are happy to offer this bit of Tax Relief in Tarrant County.”
Rick Barnes, Chairman
Tarrant Appraisal District Board of Directors
Why a Postcard?
State law does not require a notice to be sent unless the appraised value increases, the value is higher than rendered, a new property was added to the roll, or an exemption was changed or reduced. In an effort to improve communication while maintaining fiscal responsibility, TAD sent a postcard to inform taxpayers if their appraised value remained unchanged. TAD opted for a cost-effective approach by sending a postcard rather than an appraised value notice, which would have resulted in significantly higher costs, and would not have clearly notified people that their value did not change.
Property Search
You can use our property search feature on our website www.TAD.org to compare current and prior year values. Simply search using your property address, account number, owner name, or other identifying details. Certain information is not available online per state law including but not limited to over 65 exemptions.
